Hi all! So day two has changed! I initially planned to go to my first park for the holiday however due to how late I was yesterday I was not in the mood to go to a park as I was exhausteded so I opted for a chill day!
So today started with me waking up at 04:20 Florida time (09:20 UK time)…. yay… jet lag. I tried to get back to bed but couldn’t so I just got myself up and sorted a few things out. I didn’t mention yesterday, but my phone stopped working as soon as I arrived; I had to rely heavily on Wi-Fi which was weird! Basically, I forgot to send a message yesterday while in the UK to enable roaming…you can tell I am new to travelling, eh?! So I had to speak to online chat at EE to get my phone to work. The good news is it’s working again! EE use AT&T for customers, and so far been pretty good! Even get 5G!
Due to waking up super early, nothing was open, so I sat and chilled in the hotel room until breakfast. Now, I assumed the All-American breakfast would be similar to ours but….nope… totally wrong….this is what my breakfast looked like:
After breakfast, it was time to head to Walmart to get some essentials I couldn’t take with me. So I arranged an Uber, which I was really nervous about, but to my surprise, he was pleasantly friendly, and it didn’t feel awkward at all; we chatted, and he dropped me off! It cost $9 (about £7), which I think was quite reasonable! So I walked in and….wow… I was blown away! The Americans do not do it by halves! So much choice!! Here are a few pictures; more can be found in my gallery.
I got stuff I will need for my stay here; I had to get some shorts as even at 08:30 in the morning, it was very warm! Alongside with the shorts, I bought a water bottle to keep me hydrated and some sunglasses. I don’t typically wear shorts, so it was weird for me! Here are some pics of me in shorts, sunglasses and my Wal-Mart haul. In total, it cost me $112 (£90) after tax which isn’t too bad for what I bought.
Now that I had done my shopping and been blown away by the size, it was time for me to head back; the lady that drove me back was good as well. Hopefully, Uber stays this good! So this is when it got a little stressed for me… I started to put pressure on myself on what I wanted to do with my time and that I was wasting time just chilling. Eventually, I realised that I am on holiday and do not need to apply time constraints on myself; I am here to relax overall! So after my moment of weakness, I decided I would go to City Walk via their Garden Walk; it was a nice walk, and it took me about 15 minutes to get from my hotel to City Walk. So I had an explore around. It’s pretty big and has given me some ideas about where I’d like to eat over the next two weeks. Here are a few pics (More on my gallery).
While I was doing the walk, I stopped by Cabana Bay (another Universal hotel), which is the hotel mum and I are going to in September. I wanted to scout it out and get a Grilled Cheese Sandwich as I had heard they were tasty, and I was not wrong there! It was awesome!!
I liked the aesthetics of this hotel, really. I thought it was well set up and had many more things in there than Aventura, and I look forward to exploring it more in September!
After walking around City Walk, I headed home to relax; unbeknown to me, I had been wandering for over 2 hours; I was just fascinated by everything I saw! So I will use City Walk some more in the coming days.
So that was my adventure today! I am about to go down starts and grab some dinner, but I want something light, so I probably won’t take any more pictures today. I am pretty tired and will probably need an early night for my body to get used to Florida time. Tomorrow, I am off to Universal Studios park, which will be my first park of the holiday! Join me again tomorrow for another blog!
