Hi all! Just five days to go now, and the excitement is definitely kicking in! I’ve never been to Seville before, so I thought I’d do a bit of homework on what it’s actually like in November. It also gives me some idea of what to pack, which is probably useful considering how close we are to going! That’ll be the next blog.

The weather in Seville in November

The good news is that it should still be mild! Daytime temperatures in November are usually around 19–20°C, dropping to about 9–12°C at night. There’s still around six hours of sunshine a day on average, which already sounds better than Essex in November. Although, with the weather at the moment, who knows?!

It can be a bit showery too, but that’s nothing I’m not used to at home! Depending on where you look, Seville usually gets a few rainy days in November, sometimes as many as twelve. So a brolly or a light rain jacket is definitely going in the case.

I’ve been keeping an eye on the forecast for our trip, and it can’t quite make up its mind. One minute it’s looking lovely and warm, and the next I’m reading about thunderstorms… while we’re supposed to be on a boat. Great. 😂

Still, there’s time for it to change, so hopefully those storms will clear off!

Daylight and time

Seville is an hour ahead of the UK, with sunrise around 07:50 and sunset around 18:25 in early November. That gives us a decent amount of daylight to get out and explore, and hopefully a bit more light in the evenings than we’d get at home!

We’ll probably spend most of the day sightseeing and head out for dinner afterwards. From what I’ve been reading, dinner tends to be much later in Spain than we’re used to, so we’ll see how we get on with that!

Crowds and atmosphere

Seville in November should be quieter than the busiest times of year, which sounds ideal to me. Hopefully that means a bit less queuing and a bit more time enjoying the places we’ve come to see!

I know Seville can get busy, so I’m hoping we’ve picked a good time for our birthday trip. We’ve already booked the main sights we want to visit, which is one less thing to think about when we get there.

What’s on while we’re there

Something I hadn’t realised is that the Seville European Film Festival runs from 6 to 14 November 2026, so we’ll be there for most of it!

It’s the festival’s 23rd year, with screenings at cinemas across the city. Anyone who’s read my About page will know I love going to the cinema, so this could be right up my street. Tickets have usually been just a few euros too.

I might try to catch something while we’re there, assuming I can find a film in English or with English subtitles. My Spanish is… pretty much non-existent! Watch this space!

A few things worth knowing

I’ve also been looking at opening times, as some of the sights have shorter hours over winter.

The Royal Alcázar opens at 09:30, with last entry at 17:00, so that’s one to plan for earlier in the day. We’re visiting on 6 November, and I’m really looking forward to seeing it. I’ll let you know how we get on!

One handy thing I found: the Alcázar offers free entry on Mondays from 4 pm to 5 pm during winter. We’ll be on our boat trip that Monday, but it might be useful if you’re planning a visit yourself.

Either way, it’s worth booking the big sights in advance where you can. We’ve got ours sorted already!

So, what am I packing?

From what I’ve read about Seville in November so far, I’m thinking:

  • T-shirts and a hoodie. I don’t normally need many layers because I’m pretty much a volcano and radiate heat! My Disney hoodie from a trip a few years ago should do nicely for the evenings.
  • A brolly or light rain jacket. Hopefully it’ll spend the holiday in the case, but we’ll see!
  • Decent walking shoes. We’ve got plenty of walking planned, especially on our Ronda day.
  • Sunglasses. I’m hoping they’ll get more use than the brolly!

The full packing list is coming in the next blog post, so look out for that. I should probably get on with the actual packing too!

In the meantime, you can catch up on where we’re staying and what we’ve got planned.

See you on the next one. Not long now!
