Well, good evening, all! Today was my 40th birthday, here in Seville, and what better way to celebrate than with a trip to the Seville Aquarium?

Turning 40 in Seville
So, today I turned 40, and it feels a bit weird! I know I’m the same person I was yesterday, but now that 39 has turned into 40, it just feels strange!
My friend made the day really special, too, and decorated my hotel room while I was out. Take a look at this picture. It was awesome!

A walk through María Luisa Park
Today was another lengthy walk, but it’s good for me! We hit 15,220 steps, which is crazy. My poor feet and calves!
To get to the aquarium, we walked through María Luisa Park, and it looked stunning. I wish we had more green spaces like this in the UK! People were just milling about, minding their own business, running, walking and sightseeing. It was so tranquil!

The Seville Aquarium
The Seville Aquarium looked a bit odd at first, and it seemed really small. As we headed to the entrance, it felt like we were walking into an industrial building! I think they need to jazz the entrance up a little.
But once we got inside, it opened up into the seas, and it was a really nice little aquarium. I loved walking around, although it was really busy! It only took us about 30–40 minutes to go round, but it was worth it. Here are a few pictures!

Overall, I really enjoyed it. It was a little short for my liking, but I liked the range of fish and how well everything was set up. We popped into the gift shop, but it was so tiny that neither of us found anything to buy!
Back to the city centre
Since we were near the city centre, we decided to explore a bit more and see the places we missed yesterday. First stop, though, was Starbucks, because of course it was! We wandered around, admired the city centre and topped up our souvenirs.

We stopped for a bite before the long walk back. I needed something to keep my energy up, even though my friend wasn’t hungry! So we went to Burger King (yes, I know… exciting!), but it was really nice!

With the last souvenirs secured and a late lunch eaten, we headed back to the hotel, grabbing a few extra supplies from the shop on the way. We both needed a bit of a rest after two busy days on our feet!

A birthday dinner in
After a rest, and thanks to the late lunch, we decided not to go out for dinner and settled in with Uber Eats instead. We ordered from a place called Healthy Burrito, which had a vegan dish for my friend, and I had an American Chicken Burrito. It was really nice, and it was buy-one-get-one-free, too!

Tomorrow: Day 5
Overall, I had a brilliant day and really enjoyed myself. I can’t quite believe I’ve turned 40! But this will be the best decade of my life. I’ll make sure of that!
You can catch a few of my shorts over on my YouTube channel, The Forward Shift Journal, and look out for part 2 of my week in Seville in a few weeks’ time.
Tomorrow is our second rest day, and we’re planning to visit the shopping centre on the other side of Seville. Apparently there’s a Primark there, which should be interesting! Our next booked trip is the boat trip on Monday afternoon. Join us tomorrow for Day 5, and thanks for reading!
