Good evening all, so an early start and a trip to Stansted airport, plus exploring Barcelona. Let’s get to it!

So today marks day one of my 2-day trip to Barcelona with my friend. It was an early start with my alarm set for 0445! It was a struggle to get up, let me tell you! I had packed the day before, so I was ready. I got showered and was good to go! My friend came round at 0525, and we were off! Dad took us to Stansted, so we didn’t have to worry about driving. Here is a quick video!

We arrived at Stansted around 0620 so we made good time! It was really busy, but I guess it was the summer holidays but I didn’t realise just how busy it got! We did have fast-track k security but even that we had to queue for, although we did get through quite quickly once we had finished queuing! The departures lounge was heaving! Lots of flights going out. We bought snacks for, WH Smiths and found a place for breakfast.

Breakfast was nice, although my friend was disappointed with hers as it was overcooked and not particularly warm, which is understandable. Once we had breakfast, it was time to head to our gate, we were at gate 42 this time, and it was a bit of a walk! We made it in time, and we were ready to board.

The seats weren’t the most comfortable, and it was pretty tight for me, but it will do. The flight was a bit rough, and it felt like there was an inexperienced pilot; the landing was fast and rough. Not much service during the flight as it was Ryan Air, and they charged for everything on board. The flight took about 1 hour and 55 minutes in total.

We disembarked and had to go through immigration. I know the will of the people in the UK wanted to leave the EU but it was disappointing to be shoved in the “All Passports” part of security. It felt wrong as we had always been in Europe! Anyway, I got my first stamp on my passport as, for some reason, I didn’t get any stamps on my USA trips last year! We left the airport, and geez, it was warm!! It was 34c, which wasn’t as bad as the Florida heat we experienced last September! Our first stop was the beach, so we grabbed an Uber and headed there! Here are some pictures:

Next up, we headed to a food market, so we jumped back into an Uber and went over, although the Uber driver kind of dumped us off near in the middle of nowhere! It was a good walk around, although I know we knew it was food only, but we enjoyed it! Here are some pictures:

After our walk around the market, it was time for lunch; it was a late lunch because we were busy. We found a McDonald’s, which was an interesting experience in Spain! They had the McRib, which is rare in the UK! It was lovely! Here is a picture:

Once we had lunch, it was time to head to the hotel, as we were both tired and hot! So we grabbed an Uber and headed to the hotel. It was an awesome hotel! The staff were friendly and helpful! The room was lovely, too! Here is the customary room tour!

Once we settled in, we decided we wanted to find a shop! The hotel was in a nice village-like area and about a 3-minute walk away were a few shops there was an Aldi, Lidi and a place called Mercadona, so we had a walk around and bought some things! Their cakes were awesome! The Spanish do a great job at cakes! We grabbed a few drinks and went back to the hotel. Here are a few pictures:

After that, we decided to explore the village town, which was really good! It was bustling and had some good shops! We walked around and took some photos, and headed back to the hotel. Here is a picture:

And that was our day! We were both tired so we didn’t actually go and get our free drink or go and get food; we went back to our hotels and hit the sack! We had a busy but awesome day! It was nice to go to a new place despite me being nervous! It was also great to go with my new friend, and I really enjoyed myself! More on that tomorrow!

Tomorrow is mainly a travel day, but I will bring you along with us! See you tomorrow!
